Investigating the Relationship Between Perceived Organizational Support, Employee Engagement, and Organizational Commitment: Evidence from the Education Sector of South India
This study investigates the relationships among perceived organizational support (POS), employee engagement, and organizational commitment within the education sector of South India. Using data collected from 253 high school teachers, this quantitative study employs structural equation modelling (SEM) to examine the direct and indirect effects of POS on organizational commitment, with employee engagement as a mediator. The sample consists of teachers from diverse institutional settings, including government, private, and aided schools, providing a comprehensive understanding of the region’s educational landscape. South India, known for its rich cultural and educational heritage, presents unique organizational challenges, including teacher attrition and engagement disparities. The findings reveal significant relationships between these constructs, emphasizing the pivotal role of employee engagement in enhancing organizational commitment. The results provide actionable insights for educational institutions aiming to improve teacher retention and performance through supportive practices, particularly in resource-constrained environments.
